Goodbody Stockbrokers are delighted to announce that around twenty of Ireland’s most promising private high tech companies will be presenting at our fifth SummIT Conference in Dublin on April 5th at the Four Seasons Hotel. Ireland's biggest technology conference SummIT 2006 will build on the success of our previous SummIT conferences against the backdrop of a continued uplift in the technology sector and in the funding environment for high growth companies.

A wide range of Irish privately-owned companies will present, operating in growth sectors such as sensor technology, Wi-Fi, internet media, bioscience R&D tools, semiconductor design and immune system regulation.

Agenda

The “Next Wave” of companies is driven by three factors:

  • Management - Entrepreneurs with startup experience under their belt are building a new generation of companies. After some difficult years, strong companies are now emerging, and gaining significant traction, but in a more low-key fashion than in previous years.. SummIT 2006 brings you the best of them.
  • Technology - Government is pumping €646m into university-based startups in the IT and Life Sciences sectors through Science Foundation Ireland. These companies are now beginning to create opportunities for investors as they move from the campus to the commercial world. To learn more about this unique programme, check out www.sfi.ie
  • Business Environment - Ireland continues to outperform European economies, adding large operations for companies such as Amgen, Google and eBay to its “traditional” base which includes marquee names such as Intel, Microsoft, IBM, Dell and HP. This high profile list of companies draws the best of international talent to Europe’s most open economy. This creates a favourable environment for new companies, as does massive wealth creation seeking co-funding opportunities.

VCs and other investors should attend because:

  • Focus - SummIT 2006 is a unique opportunity to experience the best of Ireland’s private companies in one focused day, and to learn about the environment in Ireland. Over €500m has been provided to date by the Investment Community in companies presenting at previous SummIT conferences.
  • Potential for new funds - As part of its initiative to continue to develop indigenous high-tech companies, Government agencies are expected to provide substantial co-funding for a new round of VC funds later this year. This builds on a similar, smaller, initiative in 2000, when co-funding from Enterprise Ireland generated around €400m of VC funds for the Irish market.
  • Cross-section of companies – Presenting companies are carefully selected to provide a balance in relation to their stage of development and scale of funding required

The fee per delegate for this event is EUR395.
