The team is led by Michelle O’Keefe and has significant experience working with Credit Unions, charitable organisations, friendly societies, pension trusts and private clients.
Michelle has extensive experience in Financial Services where she has worked for almost 28 years. Michelle is a Certified Financial Planner, holds qualifications as a SIA, a QFA, a Registered Stockbroker and holds a Post Grad Dip in Financial Services. She also holds the relevant qualifications associated with financial investment and advisory roles.
Michelle is a member of the senior management team with Goodbody and currently heads up Goodbody Advisory Services. Prior to joining Goodbody, Michelle was a Partner with BDO Accountants and set up and managed BDO Private Wealth Management Ltd., from 2007 until 2014, when she transferred the business to Goodbody. Michelle previously worked for Davy Stockbrokers for over 18 years where she was a Director in the Private Client division.
Michelle has extensive private client experience and provides advisory, investment, corporate governance and treasury management advice to private clients, not for profit and charitable organisations, friendly societies and pension trusts.
Karl Goggin started his career in Deloitte & Touche as an economist before joining Morgan Stanley as an equity research analyst covering pan-European financials. Karl is a Certified Financial Planner and holds a Master's in Business (MBA) and a post graduate diploma in Financial Services. While at Morgan Stanley Karl moved internally to the equity trading desk where he was a market maker in pan European equities. Prior to joining BDO PWM, Karl was with NCB Stockbrokers where he was responsible for pan European equity sales into the Irish institutional client base and also covered the Irish financials in equity research. His expertise is capital markets, research, trading and execution. Karl joined BDO Private Wealth Management in 2012 as Investment Director, where he was responsible for the strategic investment management of client portfolios and moved to Goodbody with the transfer of the business in October 2014.
Brendan Cotter was appointed Head of Credit Union Business in June 2006 and has since developed many long term relationships between credit unions and Goodbody. Brendan has significant credit union experience having managed Fermoy Credit Union for 16 years. He is a founder member of the Credit Union Managers Association (CUMA) and served on its national executive from 2004 to 2006. He also served on the ILCU rationalisation committee. Brendan holds a BSc (Hons) in Mutual and Credit Union Business from UCC and has completed the Certificate in Investment Management with the Institute of Bankers.
Stephen has 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry with previous roles in Goodbody’s Finance Department and Wealth Management Product Team. Stephen joined the Advisory Services team in 2009 and is responsible for ongoing reviews and monitoring of the credit union’s investment portfolio and for making recommendations around current and potential investments. Stephen also heads up the Structured Products Team which provides structured product solutions to private clients and product alternatives to the Credit Unions. Stephen is responsible for designing bespoke investment products in line with the legislative and regulatory environment within which the Credit Unions can operate, and also bespoke private client alternatives.
Stephen holds a BA in Accounting and Finance from Leeds University, is an ACCA affiliate and is a Qualified Financial Adviser.
Melanie has over eight years' experience working in the financial services industry. Her previous work experience includes Bloxham Stockbrokers, where she worked on the Private Client's team for over four years and Zurich Life Assurance, where she was a Corporate Pensions administrator for two years, prior to joining Goodbody in 2014.
Melanie has obtained a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, a Professional Certificate in Stockbroking and Asset Management and also holds a Professional Diploma in Financial Advice.
Karen worked with BDO for over 16 years where she was responsible for the set-up and ongoing administration of client asset accounts for credit unions, corporate and individual clients. Karen also has extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of Financial Planning, Wealth Management, Life Assurance and Pensions. Karen manages the day to day communication with our clients and is a Qualified Financial Advisor and Fellow of the Life Insurance Association.
Karen moved to Goodbody through the transfer of the business from BDO in October 2014 and continues her roles here in Goodbody.
Adam has over three years' experience in the financial services industry in areas of Financial planning and Wealth Management since joining Goodbody in 2014. Adam is a Certified Financial Planner and QFA, holds a post graduate diploma in Financial Services and has obtained BA in Arts, a Master’s in Business Studies.
