Asset Management

Paul is Head of Investment and a Senior Fund Manager on our Investments team. He joined Goodbody in 2015 having spent 10 years at Bloxham where he was lead manager of the Discovery Fund, a global small and mid-cap equity growth Fund from 2005 to 2012. Paul then joined Davy Asset Management in 2012 post the acquisition of the Bloxham Asset Management business by Davy that year. Paul has been working in the investment industry since 2002 and holds a Bachelor of Business Studies degree, specialising in Finance and the MSc in Investment and Treasury, both from Dublin City University (DCU). Paul is also a CFA Charter holder and a member of the CFA Institute.

James has worked in the financial services industry for over 25 years and specialised in fund management in 2002 and has built up considerable experience in Hibernian Investment Managers (subsequently re-named Aviva Global Investors) and Irish Life Investment Managers. James joined Bloxham as Director of Investment Solutions in 2011 and following the acquisition of Bloxham by Davy in May 2012, James was appointed Director of Distribution and Investment Solution within Davy Asset Management. James has a BSc (Hons) degree in Banking and Finance, is an Associate Member of the Irish Institute of Pensions Management and is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Shane Butler joined the Goodbody Asset Management Investment Team in August 2015 as an Associate Fund Manager. Prior to this, he worked as an equity research analyst in the Institutional Capital Markets Department as part of the Goodbody internship programme. Shane holds a First Class Honours degree in the MSc. Finance programme from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. In recognition of achieving the top GPA in the MSc. Finance programme (~85 students), Shane was awarded both the PwC Maitiu Breathnach and Musgraves Scholarship Awards. He is also a graduate of the BSc. Economics and Finance programme from University College Dublin. Shane is a CFA Charter holder and a member of the CFA Institute.

David Fahy joined Goodbody Asset Management in November 2019 from Cantor Fitzgerald where he worked in investment research, undertaking the research of direct equities for core global portfolios and also on asset allocation including macro and strategy. David previously worked in Mediolanum Asset Management as a fund of fund portfolio manager and prior to that as a Risk Analyst at Bank of Ireland. David holds a First Class Honours degree in the MSc Quantitative Finance from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. He is also a graduate of the BSc Economics and Finance from University College Dublin and a CFA Charter holder.

Alan is a Regional Investment Sales Manager on our distribution team with over 22 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He joined Goodbody in 2015 from Davy Asset Management where he was an Investment Sales Manager managing intermediary and life company relationships in Munster and the Mid-West. He started his career in the industry with Royal Liver before taking up a role as Senior Financial Consultant with Cornmarket Group Financial Services. He then moved to New Ireland in 2001 where he was an Account Manager where he developed the broker sales channel in the South-East. Following this, Alan managed an IFG branded brokerage in North Cork before taking up a role with Bloxham Asset Management in 2011 as an Investment Sales Manager. Alan is a Qualified Financial Advisor and Qualified Retirement Planning Advisor from UCD.

Shane is an Investment Sales Manager on our distribution team with over 10 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Shane joined Goodbody in 2016 from Doyle Pension and Insurance Management Ltd. where he was a Financial Consultant. Prior to this he worked for Financial Broker Inverdea Financial Services as a Client Services Manager. He started his career at New Ireland Assurance where he worked for over 5 years in a number of areas within the Pension Department including Group Risk and Investment Only Schemes. Shane has a Higher Diploma in Economics and a BA in Economics and Maths from UCC. He holds a Certificate in Asset Management from UCD.

Cian Harty, CFA – Equity Fund Manager

Cian joined Goodbody Asset Management in July 2022 from Heights Capital Management, Susquehanna International Group, where he worked as an equity analyst focusing primarily on European equities. Prior to this, Cian worked as a financials analyst in Goodbody’s Institutional Capital Markets Department. Cian completed a Bachelor of Commerce undergraduate degree, majoring in accounting, in University College Dublin and holds a Master of Accounting from Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. Cian is a CFA Charter holder and member of the CFA Institute, as well as a Chartered Accountant and member of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Jack joined the Goodbody Asset Management team in 2022 from Goodbody’s Institutional Capital Markets Department, where he worked in Equity Research covering the Gaming and Leisure sector for the previous 2 years. Jack graduated top of his class with a first-class honour’s degree in International Finance & Economics from Maynooth University. He was awarded the Harry Murray Prize in his second and final year of study, having achieved the top grades in the university’s Economics, Finance and Accounting department in both years. Jack is fluent in Spanish, having spent one year of university studying in Spain. Jack has passed all three levels of the CFA programme, sitting the CFA Level III exam in May 2022.
