"We see an uplift in discretionary spending in the early years following retirement. However, as time goes by and as we age, that tends to shift from fun to functional spending.

"So, we aim to achieve a long-term planning objective for our clients by putting in place the right steps so that they know exactly where they stand and how much they have at any point in time in that journey," explains Owens.
