Market Update: Looking for the silver lining: Corporate Advisory Newsletter, Q2 2023

15 May 2023

In our Q2 2023 Corporate Advisory Newsletter, Finbarr Griffin, Head of Corporate Advisory, provides a market update and a recap on IPO and M&A activity in the first quarter. Our view is that capital markets are likely to remain vulnerable in 2023, with stock market volatility expected to persist well into the year. Recession in Europe remains a very real possibility, with no end in sight to the war in Ukraine and sticky inflation continuing to be a theme across the EU. Looking for the silver lining, there was a positive uptick in M&A transaction volumes in the Irish Market in the first quarter.

Make sure to take a look at our ‘Upcoming Events’ section, where you can find all the details and mark your calendar for upcoming Goodbody events.

Finally, we wrap up this edition of the newsletter with an interview with Don Harrington, Head of Growth Team at Goodbody. Don talks to us about his team, the sectors he thinks we’ll see the most activity in this year, the capital raising outlook for growth companies, what investors/buyers are focussing on and his view on the current outlook for mid-market M&A in Ireland for 2023.
