Navigating Uncertain Times: Corporate Advisory Newsletter, Q4 2022

14 November 2022

In our Q4 2022 Corporate Advisory Newsletter, Finbarr Griffin, Head of Corporate Advisory, reflects on how inflation’s upwards trajectory and the continuing market turbulence is adversely impacting the IPO and M&A markets in terms of volume and value.

Despite challenging market conditions, Goodbody advised clients on a number of transactions in the third quarter, summarised in this newsletter. Highlights include: EmpowerTheUser (ETU), on raising a strategic growth investment led by US-based Mission Springs Ventures and Pacific Lake Partners, along with participation from other private investors; and Finance Ireland on a series of shareholder transactions resulting in M&G plc taking a significant stake and an existing institutional shareholder increasing its shareholding in Finance Ireland.

Also in this edition, is a recap of recent events that Goodbody hosted and sponsored for clients and investors. Of particular note was the Goodbody Tech Summit 2022. This event was held in Dublin on 6 October and brought together more than 50 technology companies and 55 domestic and international investors, for a full day of engaging debates and discussions. Additional details on past and upcoming events can be found in the newsletter.

And finally, Goodbody launched a Corporate Advisory Virtual Work Experience Programme in October, to give students the opportunity to see if a career at Goodbody is right for them, and to help remove the industry’s barriers to entry with a special emphasis on gender, race, ethnicity, disability, location and socioeconomics.
